Chassidim and bochurim gathered Wednesday night in one of the tents of Ohel Chabad-Lubavitch Center in Cambria Heights, Queens, to mark the 26th yartzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson OBM.
Daughter of the 6th Lubavitcher Rebbe and wife of the 7th Rebbe, she carried the mantle of her revered position in a humble and unpretentious fashion, keeping out of the public eye and guarding her privacy.
Her passing on 22 Shevat 5748 had a major impact on the Rebbe. After her passing, when the Rebbe was asked about the extent of the Rebbetzin’s greatness, he remarked, “Only Hashem knows.”
An audio recording of the Rebbe emotionally saying Kaddish after the Rebbetzin is heard in the new video “Take to Heart” from Jewish Educational Media (JEM) that documents the Rebbetzin’s passing and events that followed it.
The video was played at the farbrengen at the Ohel last night:
The program began at 6:00pm with learning with Rabbi Yisroel Shimon Kalmenson of Lahak publishing with bochurim learning what the Rebbe taught following the passing and how he urged to learn from her lifetime and engage in good deeds in her merit.
It was followed by a farbrengen with speakers Rabbi Yoel Kahn, the Rebbe’s choizer; London Shliach and educator Rabbi Shmuel Lew and Oklahoma Shliach Rabbi Yehuda Weg.
The men’s gathering was held Wednesday night before the International Kinus Hashluchos convention opened up, with many of the Shluchos and girls expected to visit the Ohel and the Rebbetzin’s gravesite on Thursday.
We must cry for the Rebbe and Rebetzins return! Ad Mosai!
Why was there no advertisement about this. Sadly for many of us Chof Beis Shvat comes and goes without a Farbrengen
I would love to hear about these events before it happens. I would drive in for it.
Best Grandfather EVER!!
