wonder how the princess Kate will take this?

We are true royalty
February 10, 2014 2:48 pm

Nice the royal family is showing some sense of values. Doesn’t mean we need to learn from them, as if our Yiddishkeit needs their stamp of approval. But if it makes Tznius the in thing for those fashion forward and don’t have Yiddishe pride or a mind of their own, then let them follow the princess. Not like it will necessarily be what we consider an appropriate length.

Just because a person is not Jewish does not mean that they do not have anything to offer to the world. It also does not mean that they are less worthy; they are just of a different religion. Plain and simple.

howe shameful is that, the queen has to teach the proster girls and women how to dress tzinius

Comment
February 8, 2014 10:31 pm

Okay firstly, to some people the queen is a very respectable person who is not only modest but also tznis. If people look up to her and dress right because of her is that a crime?”On no you are only dressing right bc of a queen!” I think that the Rebbe would be happy just to see a young girl dressing tznis no matter who inspired her!

Crazy
February 7, 2014 2:30 pm

This is crazy! We have sichos of the Rebbe. What do we need the queen for!?

I don’t see why everyone is so against modern fashion. There is so much tznius fashion out there.
I am always with the latest fashion in a tzniusdige way!
That is what is so nice. you can be tzniusnig and highly fashionable!

Appaling
February 7, 2014 11:42 am

I find it appaling how everyone is against number six. just weeks ago we had this uproar abouot call of the shofar. Thankfully 99 percent were heavily against this cult.
Now we see this goysishkeit creeping in from other sources, and most people seem to have no problem with it.
What? is this a two way game? we just pick and choose?

The first page of Shulchan Aruch states “הוי עז כנמר קל קנשר רץ כצבי גבור כארי לעשות רצון אביך שבשמים…״ if we’re allowed to learn from a בהמה טמאה we’re certainly allowed to learn from a goy. (this was the rebbes response to Shach when he ridiculed the rebbe for saying we should take a lesson from a certain non Jew)

Modesty is practiced in most religions regardless. So I see no reason to be impress.

we’re not necessarily learning what to do from goyim. it’s interesting though to note that even ppl who don’t have a torah see value in modesty. which brings out the truth of tznius even more

One has MUCH MORE to show that which is in their head than in their body.

You can learn tznius from a cat...
February 6, 2014 5:10 pm

So why not from her Majesty?
I have a son in shidduchim & every time a Crown Heights girl is suggested we find out that her knees aren’t covered when standing, sitting or walking! And that’s just skirts.
And her résumé says “careful with tznius”???? Careful with whose tznius?
So yes we can learn from the queen that a bas melech has dignity & refinement. That short skirts don’t reflect that. That tight body clinging attire is for women of “ill repute”.
Not a bas Melech.

its human nature
February 6, 2014 4:42 pm

to # 9
you’re absolutely right about the fact that things we would never wear a year ago we will wear when it comes into style, but thats human nature. when you start seeing things all around you all the time, and on the person that always dressed well, it starts kicking in and you start liking it.

modesty is not the same as tznius
February 6, 2014 4:31 pm

just want to point out that we shouldn’t confuse modesty with tznius. the queen is always modest and regal, even when her neck is open or her sleeves graze her elbows. the duchess is always modest, regal AND super fashionable, even with low hemlines and short sleeves. so do they dress modestly, yes, are they tznius, no.

Shulchan Aruch
February 6, 2014 2:54 pm

Enough with the queen. Foregn sources!
We have a shulchan aruch and chasidus!

February 6, 2014 10:40 am

I think six is right. The nonsense of learning from goyim is the type of stuff i heard from my friend who went to the cots shabbaton.
He brings all this type of stuff and advice from goyishe sources.

To all girls and women who follow the latest fashions
February 6, 2014 10:07 am

I don’t mean to be mean or anything, but really: What is our main goal in these times? Is it to look best in fashion? To wear skirts most in style? Many of you claim that you dress fashionably but still tzniusly, but as an out-of-towner, I have visited crown heights a few times, and every time I am there I am shocked by what many women and girls there are wearing!!!! Seriously, I wanted to yell out the window “Why are you wearing such short skirts?!?! If the Rebbe were here now bgashmius, would you dress like this?!” Really,… Read more »

February 6, 2014 5:25 am

We are not learning from non-Jews. We learn from shulchan aruch. We are marveling at how even non-Jews are promoted time-hallowed Jewish ideals. In simple terms, one way or another the world itself will come to know that Torah is emes. You on the other hand seem to have a lot to learn.

Been reading all these comments. Get a grip people. Its a article about the royal family, the queen encouraging her family to be tsnius. Plain, straightforward article, no more, no less. the non tznius
February 6, 2014 12:52 am

Those who do not want tobe tznius will not get inspired when showing them an unzereh role model because she is not whom they want to emulate but when even a non Jew demands modesty, something which we have been preaching forever so no connection to cots, but here we can hope to hear. I the queen demands modesty how much more so shall we demand it from ourselves

As I older and hopefully wiser I get, fashion means less and less to me.I enjoy wearing beautiful clothes but it’s important to note that the entire idea of fashion is to make you want to buy more clothes. You are being manipulated.

6 is wrong
February 5, 2014 8:25 pm

we can learn good things from everyone- even a robber as it says in hayom yom. we are not saying the queen is our new role model- we are just saying we can learn and see the inyan of tznius in the royal family eventhough non-jews.
how much more so should we be proud and dress with dignity instead of stooping to trash. this has nothing to do with cots- which is poison to a chosids mind- by changing its attitude to why he does certain things.

My humble opinion
February 5, 2014 8:06 pm

Although I believe its a jump to bring in call of the shofar, I do find this kind of interesting that we have go to goyim to see tzius? Why can’t we just bring examples from unzere on the streets of CH Kan Tziva Hashem es habracha?
Just my humble opionion

Number 6 hit it on the button.
We are seeing more and more how this call of the shofar is creeping into the frum community.
This is definitely the chevei moshiach and the last test.
It is amazing how much this tumah has infiltrated this community.
If only the rabbonim would stand up and get rid of this tumah and avodah zara.

We have tanya, and maamorim!

Where does that concept come from….learning from everyone and everything? I actually agree with it, but I just wonder where it comes from. From what I have observed in the Chabad community, many members believe that they should only learn from very specific texts and people.

That’s completely not the point. The idea is more that we could take a lesson from anybody, along the same lines as the directive in Pirkei Avos “who is wise? He who learns from all man.” Its not a matter of learning klipa and having it adversely affect our spirituality, it’s taking a lesson that’s applicable across the board for all, and from the Queen of England, of all people. Its profound and heartening to hear. Please don’t jump the gun with random cots references.
