A new headstone was recently erected on the gravesite of the granddaughter of the Second Chabad Rebbe.
Mrs. Rivkah Rassia, daughter of Rabbi Menachem Nachum and granddaughter of the Mitteler Rebbe, Rabbi DovBer of Lubavitch (1773–1827), passed away at the age of 22.
She was buried in the old Jewish cemetery in Nizyn (Nyezin), a city located in Chernihiv Oblast of northern Ukraine, near the Ohel of her grandfather.
For many years, the description on her tombstone was not readable and little was therefore known about her life.
The recovery of her headstone was done by Rabbi Yisroel Meir Gabbai, who is dedicated to locating, repairing and maintaining Jewish cemeteries and kevarim of tzadikim.
