The “Minhagim” My Family Has on Sukkos and Simchas Torah

Humor by Mordechai Schmutter: Minhagim are treasured traditions. The problem is that my family has also taken on some 41 habitual things that we typically do on Sukkos and Simchas Torah. I have no idea why we keep them, but they became part of our tradition. Full Story

Thank you for enlightening us as to these very important minhagim. Perhaps we can incorporate some of them into our own observance. 😉 We can all use a few more minhagim. (Please let me know where I can obtain a copy of the songs that were sung the first time the Torah was finished.)
Chag sameach!

Very good!

So needed for me to enjoy the holidays B’Simha
Funny 😁 minhagim…

I have a minhag too – something with a pumpkin 🎃 not that scary 😧 one, but few real ones as a decor & a pumpkin pie 🥧…;).. so we kind of related to our neighbors….

Other fun frum minhagim

Saying nu nu uhh shhhaaa uhuh!! for at least five minutes in between washing and hamotzi
Making hamotzi over tiny stale crumbs in restaurants. Absolutely delicious
Saying mazel tov after a glass breaks in a restaurant like it’s a wedding even though the reason we break the glass at a wedding is zecher lchurban and the reason we said mazel tov afterwards is because two people are getting married and that’s a great thing…not because a glass was broken!
nobody ever wants to talk about the kids who go to pre 1B and post 2C…
