Engaged couple Binyamin Reinhold of Tampa, Florida and Sarah Avigayil Ram of Phoenix, had 2 logistical challenges facing them when they prepared to get married this past month.
One, the coronavirus pandemic altered all plans they made for the wedding, with halls closed, flights limited and gathering in crowds banned.
The second was the mourning period of Sefiras Haomer following Pesach during which weddings are not conducted.
Not wanting to change their wedding date, the couple opted to hold a modest chuppah in the playground of Cheder Lubavitch Arizona on the campus of Chabad of Arizona.
The auspicious day they chose was Yud Aleph Nissan (April 5), the birthday of the Rebbe. Gathering with them was a limited crowd of 10 who wore masks and kept a social distance.
The wedding was officiated by Head Shliach of Arizona Rabbi Zalman Levertov and Rabbi Yossi Friedman, Director of Chabad in Anthem, Arizona.
“We had no guests, just a minyan and plenty of masks, gloves, and social distancing,” Reinhold told COLlive.com.
The kallah’s family was present while his family wasn’t able to make it due to the virus. Instead, they watched it on Facebook Live.
Participants, both present and virtually, all wished the newlywed couple a happy life together. Mazal Tov!
