How many people realize that Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah Schneersohn, wife of the Rebbe Rashab, lived in Brooklyn? How many people know that she was laid to rest just a few feet away from the Ohel and, indeed, she was the very first Lubavitcher buried at Old Montefiore?
There is much about the life of this amazing and holy woman that unfortunately is unknown to many of us.
Tonight, in honor of her yahrzeit on 13 Shvat, renowned teacher Rabbi Shais Taub will give a live class entitled “From Lubavitch to New York: The Little Known Story of Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah” at 9:00 PM eastern.
Thank you!
Really appreciate hearing
So powerful, thank you.
Originally she was to be buried in the Chelkas Lubavitch on Staten Island.
At that time access to the Island was only via ferry boat.
The journey from Crown Heights to the cemetery was a difficult and arduous journey.
Further the Rebbe Rayatz was not in the best of health.
It was therefore decided to purchase 5 plots for Beis HaRav at Montefiore Cemetery in Queens.
The Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah was the first from the family to be buried in the row which we can see today
he said the same thing
I appreciated this so much. Thanks for the rich, beautiful stories and powerful lessons for us.
Thank you!
