The spirit of Chanukah was already shining across the community as thousands tuned into the 16th Annual Chanukah Telethon on Long Island directed by Rabbi Anchelle Perl, shliach to Mineola, the capital of Nassau County.
This year’s Telethon introduced the new ‘Chabad’s Got Talent’ competition featuring up and coming acts and performances in a variety of genre. The winners were chosen by the public, who sent in their votes during the live show.
The Tmimim Choir from Oholei Torah, under the able leadership of Rabbi Yossi Goldstein, were heartwarming and made a Kiddish Hashem.
This year’s winner of the Talent Show were Menashe and Aryeh Shershow from West Lawrence, NY, playing on the violin and cello.
During a segment break, COL Live reached Rabbi Perl on his cell for an exclusive update and report.
“Despite the economic meltdown, the community is being very generous and supportive of our life saving work, the spirit of Hakhel was really felt in every aspect of the show”.
In memory of Shluchim from Mumbai, Rabbi Gavriel & Rivka Holtzberg HYD, a special Journal of Condolence was presented to the Holtzberg & Rosenberg families, featuring letters of condolence from government leaders across the county.
