it is not an easy solution at all! No company wants down-time for their employees and equipment. Kashering probably cost many thousands of dollars, when factoring in all expenses involved. and it would not be too expensive for the OK, who would be happy to kasher every week, if the company were ready to pay for their services.

hmmm

Hmm,, so after the whole megilah, what i get, is that to
it make it parve, it would be too expensive for the OK.

i called Rabbi Fogelman

Easy $200 solution

It’s som simple to fix this —

Twice a year, just spend a day and clean out the machine and make a parve run!

My PARVE TJ’s choc chips expire in Mar. 2014.
So one run will last an entire year!!
WHY is this an issue??
TJ’s will sell more this way, as well, so it’s in their best interests!

Confused
December 28, 2012 12:16 am

One store in Los Angeles went to the manufacturer of the TJ chips and got the chips before the packaging by TJ. It was labeled kosher by the store (this store has a good reputation). And they sell the chips under the store’s hashgacha. I asked a person at OU about it and he said the Rav at this store is reliable so it is probably ok. But now I am concerned. Any ideas?

thank you very much!

December 27, 2012 8:41 pm

Does this mean that there’s no chance of having Trader Joe’s Pareve chocolate chips back in production. I miss them !

What about the Heimish brands?
December 27, 2012 7:48 pm

The Heimish chocolate chips (Liebers, Blooms, Pashkez etc) are listed as Parave – what do they do???
