After a 6 year hiatus, The Great Lag BaOmer Parade was back in full glory.
The Great Lag BaOmer Parade at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights was a stunning spectacle of joy, energy, and unity.
Thousands of Jews of all ages gathered together on Tuesday to celebrate the yartzeit of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in true Chabad tradition – a stunning spectacle of joy, energy, and Jewish unity.
Held in front of Lubavitch World Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, NY, the parade was organized by the NCFJE organization and included words of Torah, uplifting music and displays of Judaism.
This year’s parade took a cue from the year of Hakhel in 5748 (1988) when the Rebbe strongly encouraged making a parade. Although traditionally, the parades only occurred when Lag BaOmer was on Sunday, there were exceptions made to feature special years, such as a year of Hakhel.
Inspired by the Rebbe’s directive, the NCFJE planned The Hakhel Great Lag B’Omer Parade of 5783, offering a full day of fun for the entire family. The streets of Crown Heights were filled with joyous music to enhance the spirit of the special day, starring renowned singer Joey Newcomb.
Its legendary marching bands and musical accompaniment was followed by a grand carnival and street fair, with magic shows and entertainment for children of all ages.
