It’s one thing to believe it, but it’s another thing to live by: You can never really know what someone else is going through. Many of us can often even feel envy for the very people whose lives we would never, ever ask for.
Chaim Jaffa* was the kind of man that everyone was jealous of. He had seven well-liked children who were remarkably successful in school and in learning. He and his wife Miriam were distinguished members of the community and their house was beautiful. But on the inside, he and his wife struggled with their shalom bayis for years. Their children suffered the brunt of it until Chaim and his wife made the recent decision to do what was best for their children and get a divorce.
Their children were the ones who suffered the most damage. Chaim did all he could to try and get professional help for them, but he quickly ran out of funds because of the divorce. In his desperation to help them, he borrowed money from the wrong people, who are sending death threats to Chaim and his children.
Rav Meir Sirota and Rav Rabinowitz are very involved in this case and have opened an emergency fund fund for his family with statements from both Rabbanim. As time passes, the health of the children worsens, and the father continues to receive threats to their wellbeing. They urge the klal to donate towards this cause and verify it as an urgent case of pikuach nefesh. Readers are urged to help save his life by clicking here.
