R’ Reuven Ruch, born in Rakishok, Lithuania, was just 4 years old when his family merited to host the Frierdiker Rebbe at their home in 1931. Ruch himself merited to receive a bracha from the Rebbe.
In a recent meeting with Rabbi Yehoram Ulman of Sydney, Australia, Ruch put on Tefillin and told about the rare photo that his uncle copied and distributed in the media after the visit.
In the video, Ruch describes the Frierdiker Rebbe’s visit to his town and the experience at his home.
He tells of how just before the Frierdiker Rebbe left, he called all the adults and children separately to give each one a bracha – and miraculously everyone from the family that was present survived the War.

This picture does NOT look at all like the previous rebbe !!!!
Well now that it is here. Connected to an article from the 30’s. Ok the intention was for it to look like the previous Rebbe.
But…. if someone showed me this photo by itself. I would ask, ‘who is this’
Obviously the reply would be ‘there previous Rebbe’ I would say ‘um ok I can see some resemblance’.
Nothing more.
However I can’t complete my reply without a Yashar Koach to Rabbi Ulman.
In addition if all researchers and or collectors would publicize the photos they have. Would be absolutely amazing.
What a wonderful story that Rabbi Ulman has been able to connect with gentleman. Please keep the connection going and to put on Tefillin with him daily as much as possible either in person or thru a shliach
I’ve seen this photo. It’s a painting Not a photo. Or at least a photo of a painting. Which is clearly noticeable.

Many years ago, I also met a member of the Ruch family who davened (at least occasionally) in Ohev Shalom (Rabbi Katz’s) on Fairfax. If I remember correctly, he told me that he had learned as a youngster in 770, in 5703. (I know that he had sustained a family tragedy). Anyone know what “became of him”?
