what does SHTEKEN mean?
March 16, 2010 8:18 am

To our Hanhalahs and Mechanchim – let us remember and follow this mother’s lifetime pursuit and objectives to find the GOOD in every one of our Talmidim and Talmidos – to help them achieve their potential, with positive energy and Simcha. (not always with a shteken)

i know you are a brave guy and have the guts to say it like it is, but I didn’t know you are so sensitive to SAY IT RIGHT, (which is so hard when you are talking in middle of shiva) elah mai? you must have your heart in the right place too, and you say it how you feel, G-d bless you and chazak viematz!

wow, what a nice article written about such a special person. If i had to use a few words to describe mrs palace ( i didnt know her that well, yet, she truly made enough of an impression) i would use the following: happy, cheerful, smiley, positive, giving , and all around fun, bubbly person!may we merit the coming of moshiach now!

Thank You for writing this beautiful letter. Everything that was written here really brought out the specialty of this amazing woman. As someone who knew her well, there are no words that can be said to bring out how amazing she was. A smile never left her face, and nothing but kind and comforting words left her mouth. As a young child she would always give me presents whenever she came into town, and spoke to me like i was the most important person in the world. she didnt talk to me like a little kid just trying to be… Read more »

“You fought and fought – you so wanted to win – to continue to live and give. But, Hashem is stronger, wiser and more experienced – and He needed you to come Home.”

This makes it sound that it is not worth to ‘fight’ if Hashem has already decided.
I don”t agree. This is what Tefillah is all about!!!

Thank you

What a beautiful article. As a mother of a Diamond davener, Rabbi Duchman is not exaggerating at all. When I moved on to my block, Bassie Palace came over and said don’t worry I’ll introduce you to your whole block so you’ll know your neighbors. Always helpful and always with a big big smile.
We miss you Bassie!

collive – thank you for printing this letter. and thank you Rabbi Duchman for sharing with us the lessons we all can learn from Mrs Palace. we all have battles in life. we have to fight them by staying focused on true Torah priorities and not let setbacks fool us into sadness and stillness. we have the Rebbe and we have an example in Mrs Palace. a mother of almost a dozen children to show us the value of a large family and how it enriches the mother. unlike material things that are reduced when you give them away… the… Read more »
