The red bricks are there. It has three windows on each side and three pointy tops. It’s just not in the Crown Heights’ section of Brooklyn, NY. But rather, in the Ukrainian city of Haditch.
A COLlive photographer who visited the city to pray at the grave site of Rabbi Schneor Zalman of Liadi, the first Lubavitcher Rebbe, found the odd building nearby.
The address of the building is 38 Pervomisk, Haditsch.
“It was built 6 years ago by a Jew of Georgian descent who is a member of the Jewish community in Dnepropetrovsk,” a Shliach in Ukraine told us.
As it appears, the Halperin and Deitsch families of Jerusalem – who built a guest House in the city – plan on purchasing the 770 look-alike to open a Yeshiva and rabbinical Smicha program.
“The problem is that it is not in the gated area of the cemetery so staying there is a problem on Shabbos,” the Shliach added.
At this point, the building remains empty.
