Archive Gems is pleased to launch a series on the involvement of the Rebbe with political and communal figures the world over.
ln keeping with his concern not only for Jews but for all mankind, the Rebbe consistently kept his finger on the pulse of communal and political affairs.
Rabbi Nissan Mindel was chosen by the Frerdiker Rebbe and the Rebbe as their emissary for various missions national and international. The archives of Nissan Mindel can testify to this – with its rich content of manuscripts, letters, and photographs. Rabbi Schapiro, responsible for the Archives of Rabbi Mindel, will be presenting some of this material starting from the early years of Chabad in America and on.
In honor of Yud Alef Nissan, birthday of the Rebbe, we are launching the series with a report written by Rabbi Nissan Mindel on the occasion of the Golden Anniversary White House Conference On Children and Youth in 1960.
Among his various duties, Rabbi Mindel was the Director and Executive Secretary, Central Organization for Jewish Education – Merkos L’lnyonei Chinuch, lnc.
The Rebbe and Lubavitch have always been associated with and symbolic of education – it is therefore befitting to present this interesting document on the occasion of the Rebbe’s birthday, which has been designated by the U.S. Congress in 1981 as “EDUCATION DAY U.S.A.”
Extremely interesting

Thank you for dharing
The Rabbi on the right is David Hollander. He was the kanoiy of the RCA .At that time he had a very large shul in the Bronx.A big supporter of Chabad. in the 1980s when I protested the use of the Chicago orthodox mikval for Reform and conservative conversions he wrote numerous articles in the Jewish press chastising the telz and agudah rabbis for allowing it (they claimed they had a heater). He had a weekly column in the Jewish press.
Wow very very interesting. Can you please post the 3 exhibits that Rabbi Mindel refers to in the report.
MHM at his best.👍👌
