A rare recording of three known Chabad Chassidim singing Niggunim in Crown Heights in the year 1960 has been released for the first time this Chanukah.
The 49-minute clip contains recordings of Reb Yoel Kahan, Reb Heska Gansburg and Reb Shamshon Charitonow singing Nichoach – Niggunim of the Chabad Chassidim.
During the 1950s and 60s, Nichoach, the Chabad division of Nigunim, had a group of Chasidim who rehearsed to decide which Nigunim would be on the Lubavitch records. Additionally, this group was also the ones responsible for choosing and starting niggunim at the Rebbe’s Farbrengens, following each Sicha.
On this recording, one hears Reb Yoel, Reb Heska and Reb Shamshon sing Niggunim, as well as share comments and nuances of Nigunim they heard from their parents and other venerable Chasidim.
The audio clip brings to life the authentic Chabad atmosphere and gives a glimpse into the warmth of the Chassidic Niggunim.
The audio clip was released by Rabbi Chaim Dalfin Archives from Rabbi Yosef Goldstein.
