How do you express your thanks to someone who literally saves your Yom Tov and your dignity, by giving you cases of meat, poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables, as well as dairy products, when you have no idea how you will pay for even the most basic foods?
One Crown Heights resident put her thoughts into words in this moving personal note to Mrs. Devorah Scheiner, who has been supplying hundreds of Crown Heights families with Yom Tov needs for the past several years.
…Often it is a choice: medicine or food.—and Tishrei is coming!
Often I open the refrigerator to see only insulin, water and eggs. Baruch Hashem, there are a few cans of tuna on the shelf. I know of neighbors who find it difficult to feed the children, or get them what clothes are needed for school. Some are too embarrassed to go.
We know it takes great effort for individuals or organizations to help the growing population in need, but without your help will the refrigerator be full? Will the children go to school?
Tishrei is here!!! – in 3 weeks!
When you save one Jew you save the world,. When you do the mitzvah of helping another by loving your fellow Jew as yourself, you too are helped in This World and the World to Come .
May the Aibishter bentsch you with much success as you strive so diligently to help so many.
K’Siva Vachasima Tova.
