May the BD"Tz get involved in the 'tzedak'a needs of the community as necessary.
September 14, 2011 2:11 pm

The highest levels of tzedaka are: With regard to who to give: Providing food and clothing for needy locals, and With regard to how to give: In secret, when the giver and receiver both don’t know who the other is. This is it. With a bonus (extra zechus) for helping with simchas Yom Tov. Furthermore: from a simple human perspective, as long people in our surrounding are in need of food and clothing, that which people are giving to other causes should be given instead to help with the most basic of human needs. In addition: The concept that one… Read more »

Where's the CHJCC ?
September 13, 2011 6:33 pm

They receive tremendous funds for precisely this purpose…..to help families in distress. If it is humiliating to stand on line for free food, then organize bochrim to deliver. There is no reason for anyone to feel so distressed. Tzedeka is necessary but the CHJCC should be forced to appropriate their funding for its intended purpose. It’s a disgrace that anyone needs to write such letters for help.

Am I missing something?

Is this a new fund? Does the Simchas Shabbos and Yomtov fund run by the Stock family still exist? Just curious!

Please send immediately your donation to Mrs. Devorah Sheiner’s Yom Tov Funds @ the address 519 Montgomery st
Brooklyn NY11215 and tax-deductible. Please mail it, we need your financial help as we have 4 full trucks coming to feed all these families in need. It is very difficult to collect for Mrs. Devorah Sheiner to collect all those funds before every Yom Tov of the year and people walk away with cases and armfull of foods even BREAKFAST FOR THE EARLY BIRDS… AS HOW MORE THIS CAN BE DISCRET?? Everyone is treated by Mrs. Sheiner with warmth and dignity.

to no. 2 - Huh?

Would you change places with someone referred to in the article above. No you wouldn’t so why are you complaining? Are you upset that there are people who feel the pain, and suffering of others while you don’t feel their pain and suffering. Then do teshuva.
Do you eat only chicken legs and nothing else? Are your shoes torn? No.
You have to learn the meaning of the word “fargin”. It means something like “allow them”. You have to learn to fargin, allow them to live. live and let live.
Hashem yerachem on you and your ilk.

food pantry
September 9, 2011 7:41 am

Why is there no food in the fridg or in the pantry? there is a food pantry in the neighborhood. Call Mrs. Speilman for the hours. There is no excuse for kids to go hungry. Are you too proud to wait on line for free food? Do your kids deserve to eat cereal & milk for breakfast & dinner every day & only Chicken wings for Shabbos? There is no excuse for that!!!!!

Your work is absolutely amazing, and it would be so much more praiseworthy if it would be done in a more discreete place so that the people who receive don’t undergo embarrasment.Thank you and a gut geventch yor

i agree to no 2 its not fair we also our struggling my husband even has to travel for 3 weeks each month and back for 1 week we also only eat meat on yomtov sparingly why cant we get help without feeling guilty to ask please tzedokah organization think about the working class people

to number 2

i totally get it…but dont bash a good cause. There are those that really cannot work or their work leaves them with much less pay than is needed to live.

If your situation is really so terrible – and you wont be able to afford anything decent for yom tov, then maybe you qualify for some help too? Who said you cant ask? Its not comfortable to have to ask, but if you wont ask, then you are right – noone realises you are in need and your bashing a good thing is quite unbecoming!

Huh?
September 8, 2011 8:57 pm

My husband and myself both work full-time boruch Hashem but we pay so much in school fees that we cannot afford any of those luxury yon tov foods mentioned in the article. We don’t have anything for clothes either not for ourselves or the children. No one gives us any help because they think we don’t need it because we are both working. Good luck to the relaxed non workers who will have all the time to prepare for yomtov and all the supplies to do it with.

Wow!
