Rabbi Achiad Ettinger, one of the three Israeli victims in a pair of terror attacks in Samaria on Sunday, has passed away, after succumbing to his wounds on Monday.
Ettinger, 47, a resident of the Israeli town of Eli in Samaria, is survived by his wife and 12 children, ages one to 20.
Ettinger was a well-known educational figure in the national religious sector, who served as dean of the Oz V’Emunah Hesder yeshiva in the Neve Sha’anan neighborhood of south Tel Aviv.
Rabbi Ettinger’s family said in a statement in which they announced “the passing of the holy Rabbi Achiyad Ettinger, who was murdered al Kiddush Hashem during a terror attack in which he displayed daring and courage while shooting the despicable terrorist. We thank all the staff of the Beilinson Hospital, the MDA teams and the Samaria security division, and all the people of Israel who prayed for his recovery. ”
On Sunday, a Palestinian Arab terrorist carried out a pair of attacks in Samaria, including a combination stabbing and shooting attack at Ariel Junction in central Samaria, then a shooting attack in western Samaria at Gitai Avisar Junction.
Staff Sgt. Gal Keidan from Beersheva was killed by the gunman. A third victim is still fighting for his life.
