Thousands of guests travel to be with the Rebbe during Tishrei, many organizations care for the guests’ well-being, by providing a full Gashmiyus and Ruchniyus program in 770.
770, is therefore packed to capacity during Tishrei, and many of the regulars are left with no place to Daven and learn.
A few Bochrim found a solution.
A huge tent has been constructed on Eastern Parkway to enable the Crown Heights community to Daven and learn in 770, even during the month of Tishrei.
“This project was Boruch Hashem successful, only because so many parties worked as a team to make this happen,” said Mendel Mintz, one of the organizers.
The team included Chanina Sperlin, who, together with Detective Vinny Martinos of the 71st Precinct, dedicated days of work to receive the proper permits.
Yingi Bistritsky of Crown Heights Hatzolah, and all Hatzolah members have accommodated the construction of the tent by moving the Hatzolah zone to Kingston Avenue.
Also instrumental were Nochum Markowitz, Yonoson Hackner, the Gaboim of 770, Chaim Boruch Halberstam and residents of Eastern Parkway.
A group of dedicated bochurim from 770 are running and managing the tent, Shmuly Butler, Yossi Rapoport, Avremel Yusewitz, and Meir Moshe Altman.

a true KIduch Hashem
So neatly done and so practical
Really doing the impossible!
Keep up the good work
Kol Yisroel Yishvo Besukah Achas!
Ty so much for making this happen!
who thought that we would come to the day that there the ohel and 770 would be one thing!!!!
Comments 28 about “running away to the Ohel” sounds disrespectful and is totally not understood.
Since when was going to visit the Rebbe instead of being in his shul considered”running away”…
This must happen we all know it! and it’s only these bochrim that can pull these kinds of things off!
where was merkos, gabboim, or any of these ppl that were meant to do these things 25 years ago?? everyone is sleeping
amazing how a few bochrim can just do this overnight..
There is a misunderstanding here! The tent isn’t for the people that daven or learn in 770 the tent is for all the bochrim that fell that there is “no place in 770” so they run away by going to the ohel or yagdil torah or anywhere else away from 770. The Ballei Batim that can’t step foot in 770 Tishrei time “because of lack of space” So no one is telling Ballei Batim that daven in 770 or Bochrim learning in 770 to go outside Chas Veshalom What was done here with the tent is that today there is… Read more »
Sure the Rebbe has much nachas of his chasssidim doing what he wants finally
Reb Nachman, Reb Shalom Charitonov, Reb Shlomeh Zarchi all say that Kedoshas 770 is in the Chatzer as well.
Anash can finally come to 770 Tishrei time….
We are expelled when all guests come. now we have a place to daven and learn
thank you
This is truly incredible, sure the Rebbe has much Nachas!
Very surprised not sukkah’s. I am sure we have this improvement, but I also pretty sure that the “temporary dwelling ” will be a real sukkah too. Or a series of them, or some tents and some sukkah’s.
This is needed for the women as well. Several women have fainted from the crowd.
Should have been done years ago & maybe remove covers on sukkos & turn it into a huge sukka
Now people will save the time and energy crossing to the other side of Eastern Parkway – with a Yagdil Torah right on the doorstep of 770…
Keep on trucking!
What do you want feel or look?
Maybe a crowded 770 🙂
770 being so full it’s understood why many would opt to learning in the tents but I think for people to daven there and being an Aron Kodesh and Chazan Amud making it so official and a place where minyonim can be made etc is not respectable to the Rebbe’s shul.
What do you think?
They should make one of the tents into a succoh for people that have no where to go to hear Kiddush
elegent! clean and efficient!!
So happy to see growth and plain good news!!
Reminds too much of the ohel, plus it takes away from part of the view outside 770, instead of seeing hustle bustle, it’s just all covered in tent. How do hatzalah, police get through now also? I think although nice idea, it’s taking away from 770, instead of learning Davening inside, people will opt to do it on street instead. Maybe makes less packed inside 770, but the quality you can’t compare. Put the tent on Kingston or any other street for that matter, not right outside which blocks the whole front which I love passing by and seeing each… Read more »
open roof and turn it in too a succah.
Mendel Mintz you are just amazing!! Your a power house always coming up with great ideas, to help the community at large.
Make 770 Great Again
now you can be at the ohel and at 770 at the same time.
Very impressed. This young man is a powerhouse..
I was there today. The media should do a story on Mr Mendel Mintz. He’s an inspiration, nothing stops him.
there is plenty space up to union st
Whoever thought of this, I take off my hat for you!! Also, I agree with no.1, I am a resident on that block and getting home can be a disaster at times.
770.
Just put a big sign that says “bamba” and they will all run in.
Well done Mendel, well done
Starting to remind me a bit of the Ohel 🙂
What we really need is this tent to be there the whole year
