The Chanukah Telethon had just ended, and Rabbi Anchelle Perl, host, was back in the “Green Room.”
“What are your first reactions about the show?” asked local community leader Kive Strickoff of Rabbi Perl.
“A moment of pause and then two concerns,” said Rabbi Perl. “I pause to first thank Hashem for all His brochos and to send blessings to all who contributed. Then I pray that the telethon made a Kiddush Hashem and that our message of ahavas Yisroel – love for all resonates into the widest community. And making a few dollars for programs doesn’t hurt,” he added.
This year’s theme highlighted the dangerously growing heroin epidemic on Long Island and the proactive stance that Chabad of Mineola is taking in this regard.
Interspersing the very serious and sad moments, spirits were elevated with joy and hope with singing sensations and entertainment with Eitan G, Eli Marcus, Lipa Schmeltzer, Richard Seaman, Lenny Solomon and of course the famous Dancing Rabbis.
Because this year’s Telethon was broadcast on the eve of Yud Tes Kislev many lessons were shared with the viewing audience from the Alter Rebbe, especially the lesson of always hearing the cry of a child, however spiritually busy we may personally be.
A fantastic excellent Rabbi. A very good Rabbi to speak to about Jewish Life. To be survivor of medical illnesses. To Survive from death of Parents and to move on. TODA.
