The recent looting and attacks that have been part of the civil unrest connected with the tragic death of George Floyd have taken a toll on Jewish communities which have seen their shuls, stores and properties damaged.
Raziel Cohen (“The Tactical Rabbi”), owner and founder of NDF Training, filmed a candid video in which he shares information and security tips that he says can save your life during an altercation.
Here are his suggestions for someone is not armed or interested in confrontation:
• Prepare a “Go-Bag” with all important items (Medications, legal documents, food for kids).
• Think of a place to drive to, have alternative routes.
• Make sure your gas tank is full.
• Avoid Highways so you could have alternative ways to escape a riot.
• Pepper spray that has a wide spread is beneficial for multiple people.
• Start the process of obtaining a firearm and get proper training. Think about the future.
And if you are someone who is armed and plans on staying home, here’s what he suggests:
• Preload all your magazines
• Have multiple fire extinguishers available.
• If you have multiple people in your home trained, you can take shifts monitoring your street.
• Consider having two-way radios to make sure you are both in the loop.
• Have medical equipment at the ready.
