400 cases of Covid 19 have been confirmed this week in Australia, as lockdowns resume in the country and front-line workers have been called to action once again.
The current lockdown, which has been in enforcement for two consecutive months, has taken its toll on members of the community. In an effort to show the generosity and warmth of the Jewish community, Rabbi Chaim Levy of Sydney’s Shul has distributed hot meals, sweets and cold drinks packaged by Our Big Kitchen to the front-line workers.
The front-line workers have been most appreciative of this kind gesture and felt the warmth of the community giving them strength in these trying times.
“It has been hard to miss the huge efforts and presence of the front line workers,” says Rabbi Levy. “It’s been a community effort working together and each of us doing our part. We owe a debt of gratitude to the police officers and those running the multiple testing stations and drive-through testing that are taking place on the streets of Sydney.
“The front-line workers are working hard to keep us safe and hopefully get us back to normal as soon as possible,” Rabbi Levy says.
