Sweet Expressions of Crown Heights, the popular ice cream and candy shop on Kingston Avenue and Union Street, has opened a second location in the neighborhood.
Excited children and their parents lined up to be the first to enjoy the shop’s delicious selection of hard and soft ice cream, smoothies, shakes, and more as soon as the gleaming new store opened its doors on Thursday.
Businessman Yerachmeal Jacobson and his son Mendel Jacobson have owned the popular ice cream and candy shop on Kingston Avenue since 2019.
The shop has become something of a community hub, with indoor and outdoor seating areas, and offering Kosher dairy and parve ice cream, hot and cold drinks, candy, chocolates and nosh, and is a popular meeting spot for both residents and visitors to the Crown Heights neighborhood.
Due to the shop’s popularity, the long lines and wait times to order have been an issue for customers, Yerachmeal Jacobson told COLlive.com.
“For years, we have been trying to ease the lines and the great demand in the store, so we’ve been looking for an additional location to expand,” he said.
After a long search, a building on the corner of Carroll Street and Troy Avenue became available, bringing another food destination to the Crown Heights neighborhood, conveniently located for residents on the other side of Crown Heights.
The new Sweet Expressions offers the same delectable items as the original, including ice cream and frozen yogurts, gelato and razzles, a full selection of chocolates and candies, as well as french crepes, Belgian waffles and hot nuts. They also carry a full line of healthier options such as natural fruit shakes, soft sorbet and low-fat frozen yogurts.
The new branch will include a full salad bar as well as other menu items in the near future, they said.
“We are so excited to be able to offer the Crown Heights community a new and pleasant experience in our spacious new location,” Jacobson said.
