Gan Yisroel Tzeirei Hashluchos Sweden is once again running a wintercamp for daughters of shluchim in Europe, between 7 and 14 years old, beginning Thursday, 3 Teves (25 December) until Sunday, 13 Teves, (4 January).
The wintercamp activities include shiurim, nigunim, games, skiing, ice skating, swimming, night activities, trips, drama, arts and crafts, Tanya Baal Peh and inspirational farbrengens.
“The camp will iyH strengthen their friendships with each other, and they will be able to return home with a new dedication to their lives as shluchos, living by the horaos of the Rebbe,” says Rabbi Alexander Namdar, who directs the camp along with his wife Leah.
Gan Yisroel for European Tzeirei Hashluchos in Sweden began in 5769 as a joint project of Chabad of Sweden and MyShliach of Merkos Leinyonei Chinuch under the direction of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky. The camp is directed by Rabbi Alexander and Leah Namdar. Children of Shluchim around Europe are coming back again and again for more of the same.
“Camp is such an important part of a Chassidishe chinuch, ” says Rabbi Namdar. “The Rebbe once told a chossid that Shabbos in camp is ‘freilach azoi vi Simchas Torah!’ In 5751, the Rebbe told my wife and myself in yechidus: ‘…Freilach begashmius! Nu, you will be freilach and we will hear good news.’ We want to help raise freiliche Chassidim, and camp is a great way to do this.”
“It’s like a family here at camp,” says a counselor. ” And the Ahavas Yisroel between the kids is amazing. Many of the kids are raised in remote Chabad Houses around Europe and the way they show caring for each other is very special to see.”
Gothenburg, Sweden, called the heart of Scandinavia, is renowned for its clean air, pure water, and close proximity to skiing and other winter sports. The campsite lies at the heart of miles of untouched forest and nature reserves. The campsite nestles into the famous Botanical Gardens, with beautiful scenery, waterfalls and majestic trees.
