Tzeirei Hashluchim Sweden is marking a major milestone this winter, celebrating its 50th camp session and welcoming children of shluchim from across Europe and beyond for an unforgettable chassidishe experience.
Founded in 5769 (2009), Tzeirei Hashluchim Sweden has hosted boys and girls summer and winter camps for young shluchim and shluchos growing up in far-flung communities. This winter’s camps mark the 50th and 51st sessions, BH.
For children raised on shlichus, camp is far more than a getaway — it is a place of belonging, growth, and connection.
“Camp is not a luxury for kids of shluchim. It’s a chinuch necessity,” says Rabbi Alexander Namdar, who directs the camps together with his wife, Leah.
“I keep coming back to Sweden because…I can’t stay away! There’s an incredible chayus, warmth and a chassidishe environment created here,” says one staff member, who originally came as a camper and is still returning.
“We all feel like one big family, all together as the children and shluchim of the Rebbe. The Namdars are loving and caring directors, and every single camper feels cared for and taken care of with warmth and sensitivity,” says Mushka Feldman of Connecticut, a staff member who is back in Sweden for her fifth time.
Parents consistently describe camp as the highlight of their children’s year.
“This camp is an anvil on which Hasidim are forged,” says Shternie Wolff from Hanover. “The shluchos return from the camp in Sweden connected and with a strengthened hiskashrus.”
Campers return home with renewed confidence and inspiration. The 10-day winter camps combine learning, activities, trips, and uplifting farbrengens. From smaller VIP winter camps to large and lively summer camps, the goal is to ensure that every camper feels cared for, valued, and uplifted.
“We have immense gratitude to all of our devoted staff, past and present, who have made all 50 camps so joyful and meaningful, BH,” says Leah Namdar.
“We also want to thank the Shluchim and Shluchos from around the world for entrusting us all at camp with your greatest treasures, your children.”
Since the camp’s founding in 2009, hundreds of young shluchim and shluchos have passed through Sweden’s summer and winter camps, many later returning as staff. Today, alumni are sending their own children as well.
“Tzeirei Hashluchim Sweden isn’t just a camp for children of shluchim, it inspires the children to be shluchim themselves,” says Mendel Serebryanski, who was an HC this past summer.
Tzeirei Hashluchim Sweden is a project of Chabad Sweden, directed by Rabbi Alexander and Leah Namdar. The camps were founded in partnership with Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky ע״ה and continue today in partnership with Rabbi Mendel Kotlarsky and Mendy Kotlarsky of Merkos Suite 302 and MyShliach.
The Tzeirei HaShluchos camp is in session now, under the leadership of Rivka Namdar, Miriam Newman and Shalva Miriam Rosenberg.
