Is a swastika, made famous by the German Nazi Party, a symbol of Jewish hate?
An officer of the New York Police Department that responded to a call about a swastika drawn in an apartment building in Crown Heights, didn’t think so.
The offensive graffiti was discovered on Friday night by Jewish residents. “We had some guests over for the meal,” a tenant told COLlive. “When the meal was over, they left and they notified us that in our stairway there are swastikas.”
She said they were debating whether to call the police on Shabbos, since it wasn’t a life threatening emergency. They ended up calling on Sunday morning.
“They came fast and they took my husband’s information,” she said. “But after that, they said that it is not a hate crime because the building’s residence is half black and half Jewish.”
Hours later, the NYPD contacted them again and sent a captain. “They are now calling it a hate crime and contacted the Hate Crimes Task Force.”
There are symbols that represent Nazis , and how you respond is by laughing at African Americans? I guess humor comes in many packages, but that doesn’t make me laugh. It makes me sick. And not ALL African Americans put those signs there, in case anyone thinks an entire race is responsible for the actions of a few.
The comment you make is upsetting and annoying. Your stereotypyng (do even know what that means) doesn’t show much education, you know. Don’t lump all people of the African American community under one roof, any more than you would want people of you own group lumped into one disrespectful description. Be a mensch! Check your attitudes! I’m sorry if your experience leads you to your conclusions, but your experiences are very limited and do not seem to guide you to to be any more educated than those who you lump into the negative generalizations you make,
it would be funny if it wasn’t sad… these are NOT nazi signs (though probably intended to be) they are hindu signs…
so who cares.? its just a bunch of dumb blacks. they didnt learning anything more in school (if they bechlal went to one). it was a nice picture with a couple sticks here and there so that’s the only thing they remembered. this incident really requires no hispaalus at all.

don’t paint swastikas any more or less than the rest of the non jewish population. the educated african- american knows what the nazis thought of them and what would likely have happened if the german dream of conquering africa ever came to fruition. if they don’t, their elders should educate them…

Is this not a hate crime? When was the last time someone signed a letter with the affectionate swastiska?
So sorry this happened, but at least it is being called for what it is.
