Following a successful operation and investigation, a suspect wanted for attempted murder in connection with a recent near-fatal stabbing in Crown Heights has been apprehended and arrested on Thursday, Crown Heights Shmira has informed.
On December 9th, the victim was reportedly carrying a suitcase when the suspect unexpectedly attacked and stabbed him on the steps of Rubashkin’s residence on President Street. “There’s no one here to help you,” the attacker reportedly called out and then went on to stab the Chassidic man in the neck in what was an unprovoked assault.
After receiving the call about the attack, Shmira arrived promptly, stopped the victim’s bleeding, contacted Hatzalah and the police, and began searching for the suspect.
Shmira obtained a photograph, collected surveillance footage to trace his movements, gathered crucial information leading to his identification, and collaborated closely with NYPD detectives on a daily basis.
Using key intelligence and information gathered during the investigation, dedicated Shmira members were able to spot the suspect walking in the Crown Heights neighborhood where he had been hiding out, nearly two weeks after the incident. They immediately notified the NYPD, who arrested him.
“Shmira would like to thank the community for submitting tips and leads, the NYPD’s detective squad and public safety officers, 71st Precinct CO Thomas Smith and his entire outstanding team, and our dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to help apprehend the suspect,” a Shmira spokesperson said.
The investigation was tremendously aided thanks to Shmira’s camera program. As the discounted program is still active, if you need security cameras on your home, business or Shul, call or text 646-970-1703. (If your Shul needs an emergency phone, feel free to reach out.)

Be thanks to Shmira for taken this dangerous animal off the streets
How is the victim?
I heard he’s better, a lot better, but is severely traumatized
But preventive measures must be taken to avoid any such dangerous animal from
entering Rubashkins in the future!
