A surprise grand celebration was held in Morristown, New Jersey on Tuesday, celebrating the 90th birthday of Rabbi Moshe Herson, Head Shliach of the state and dean of the Rabbinical College of America.
Bochurim of the Yeshiva Summer Program (YSP) greeted Rabbi Herson at the celebration, singing “Achein Ata,” a Chabad niggun which Rabbi Herson sang on the classic album of Niggunei Chassidei Chabad (Nichoach) decades ago. The bochurim sang a special version of the niggun composed specially in honor of Rabbi Herson.

An edition of the Alter Rebbe’s Tanya was printed in honor of Rabbi Herson in the newly built wing of the campus at the Rabbinical College of America which was completed just weeks ago. It was edition #8,442.
Rabbi Herson was visibly emotional and celebratory during the event, thanking everyone for participating. He was flanked by his children Rabbi Asher Herson and Rabbi Mendy Herson.
Rabbi Mendel Goldberg, Director of YSP, Rabbi Chaim Schapiro, Rosh Yeshiva of Morristown Zal, and Shliach Rabbi Dovid Dubov – representing all the 70 shluchim in New Jersey, addressed those gathered. In addition to the birthday cake, Rabbi Herson received a portrait of himself drawn by YSP’s Learning Director Shimi Silberberg.
In attendance were Mayor of Morristown Tim Dougherty and many Shluchim from New Jersey, wishing Rabbi Herson many brachos to continue his work in good health.
