Supporters of the ‘Yissachar and Zevulun’ learning program, which has been operating in recent years at the central yeshiva in 770, gathered last night for a festive and prestigious appreciation event, which miraculously raised the learning revolution that is taking place in the rabbi’s study hall, thanks to the revolutionary project.
The participants entered the luxurious hall of the Jewish Children’s Museum to the sounds of pleasant music, as at the entrance to the hall a photo exhibition was displayed showing the learning appearance in the large zal of 770, which has undergone many changes since the program began to gain momentum.
The exhibition allowed supporters to see up close the effect of the program on the students, which enables them to study for a full year with peace of mind.
When the audience was seated, a fascinating video appeared on the screen showing boys in 770 and rabbis in the Igud Talmidei Hakvutza, sharing with the audience the change that the project brought about from a personal perspective.
The students talked about their great satisfaction, about their successful learning, and about the nachas surely brought to the Rebbe through their efforts, scholarships, and monthly tests.
The rabbis shared their learning experience that surrounds the zal, each in his field. MC Rabbi Hillel Raskin opened the exciting event with words of blessing, and invited Rabbi Chaim Meir Zalmanov, from the management of Igud Talmidei Hakvutza, to read the Rebbe’s Kapitel. On the screens were videos, reflecting to the audience the importance of studying Torah diligently and persistently by students of the yeshiva.
Then Rabbi Sholom Dovid Gaisinsky, who serves as Meishiv on behalf of the Igud in 770, and is known among students for his deep lessons, was invited to stage. Rabbi Gaisinsky gave an eloquent speech about the meaning of partnership between supporter and student, between Yissachar and Zevulun, and explained how the supporter merits all Torah that the student learns, when he is the one who enables students in 770 to learn properly.
As befitting such an important evening, the audience enjoyed performance by renowned musician Gershon Freishtat, who together with singer Mendy Shapiro performed ‘Avinu Malkeinu’, as we approach the High Holidays.
A festive dinner was served, and many L’Chaims were said, as participants thanked the Igud for the privilege to be partners in the recent revolution ensuring that 770 will be a study hall where the voice of Torah is heard loudly.
A video presentation told the story of Nati, a businessman from Crown Heights, and Menachem, a student in the Kvutza. The fascinating multimedia production provided a glimpse into the difficulties of each one. Project Yissachar and Zevulun connected Nati with Menachem, and allows Nati to know that the learning he so much wants to be a part of is done on his behalf by devoted students in 770. Menachem, on the other hand, receives $150 every month that allow him to live comfortably, and learn with a calm heart.
Awards were distributed to many supporters of the program, and a Siyum was recited. Rabbi Yisrael Kaplan thanked the many partners who crowd the hall, and wished that the continued partnership with students will continue to yield material and spiritual abundance for all supporters.
The event concluded with a sense of elevation on the wonderful privilege, as each participant received a unique gift, and pledged to continue their partnership with students in 770 for next year. Accompanied by joyous Niggunim, the supporters left the hall knowing that they carry with them the indescribable merit in the New Year – the study of Torah of students for a whole year in 770.
