Sunday Or Thursday, Montreal Holds Large Parade

The Chabad community in Montreal, one of the only cities in the world which organizes a grand Lag BaOmer Parade whether its Sunday or in middle of the week, celebrated the yahrzeit of the Rashbi.

1500 kids showed up from 15 Jewish schools of Montréal for the event that began at Van Horne Park in a display of Jewish unity and pride, as instructed by the Rebbe.

Young students recited the 12 Pesukim followed by greetings from Chabad Dayan Rabbi Berel Bell.

10 car floats and creative floats were prepared by bochurim of the Yeshiva Zal and Mesivta.

Children marching held signs in both English and French calling to “Learn Torah” and “Love your fellow Jew” as they walked down Westbury avenue to Mackenzie Park for a fascinating concert, circus show, and raffles concluded yet another Lag BaOmer day in Montreal surely to be remembered until next year.

Chabad activist Rabbi Dovid Cohen, the energetic organizer of the event, was the MC and greeted participants to the festival honoring Rabbi Shimon bar Yochei’s yahrzeit and thanked the Head Shliach Rabbi Berel Mochkin for his leadership.

A big thank you was given to Rabbi Yisroel Cohen, who came specially to town to coordinate the event with the help of the Yeshiva Zal and Mesivta.

A big thank you and great appreciation was given to the local Bochurim that helped from Montreal Zal, Mesivta, Montreal Seminary Beis Chaya Mushka and girls from Beis Rivka.

A special thank you and Yasher Koach to the K’vutza Bochurim that came in from Crown Heights to help out with the parade and do Mivtziom, the parade was a big success thanks to each and every one of you.

These include Shimon Chaim, Menachem Mendel Goldshmid, Menachem Mendel Kloizner, Menachem Mendel Saidov and Matisyahu Edrei.
