After returning home from camp this summer, the Geisinsky boys from 5 Towns, Long Island were thinking ahead – to Erev Sukkos, in fact.
With three weeks to go until the first day of yeshiva, the boys decided to embark on a project which would keep them busy in a fun, yet inspiring way.
Knowing that their younger brother Gavi was having his upshern – first haircut the day after Yom Kippur, which is right before Sukkos, they came up with the idea to make an exhibition on different types of kosher and non-kosher sukkahs to display at the upshern to enlighten and educate those that still haven’t built their sukkah.
So the boys went to their attic and garage and found some old window blinds and other scraps and began getting creative.
The Upshern took place on Thursday night, and 6 Sukkahs created by the boys were on display. Shuey Geisinsky had the privilege of teaching other boys and even dads in attendance, the important details of building a kosher Sukkah.
May the nachas of your children be continuously transmitted to your great grand children, and you should be rejoicing in their weddings toch Osher Yim Osher .

What a blessing. I love this and I’m so happy you showed this to me. You have a wonderful family and I am so proud that we are friends.
Hi, it’s Meir Geisinsky the proud daddy – my sons would like to donate the sukkos (not the display box) to a yeshiva or organization that would want them after sukkos – perhaps a grade that is learning mishectas sukkah or for another reason. Can benefit from them. If u have any ideas or are interested in them please advise at [email protected]. Good yom tov. Meir

We were there! It was such a creative way to include the rest of the kids, letting them teach others, and be proud of their work. The Upshernish was fabulous, an amazing turnout, delicious food.
Hadassah and Meir Geisinsky are doing a wonderful job. Mazel Tov!
