Bais Rebbe
In honor of the 19th day of Kislev, the “Rosh Hashana for Chassidus”, the eighth grade of Bais Rebbe Junior High came up with an incredible goal… to bring 9 concepts from the Tanya to life in a full-size expo.
They divided into 9 groups and sat down to learn the deep philosophical concepts from the school’s Rabbi Danny Yiftach. Tanya is a world view which transforms one’s perspective and addresses the typical “identity crisis” of every Jew… After learning the concepts, they drew up plans of how to create the experience using art mediums and all types of building materials.
Today, on Yud Tes Kislev, they held tours for the entire school and some parents and community members. First, the visitors walked through a mega Tanya which served as the entry way, leading them to a space surrounded by life-size pages of Tanya. Then they were led to the exhibits: From the Alter Rebbe’s introduction, to the Title page, to foundational chapters such as 32 and 26, the room was transformed into a living Tanya! They are covered topics such as… what is true happiness? How important is it to always be happy?
Who am I? Am I my G-dly soul or my animalistic soul?
What is the point of giving a small amount of tzedaka every day instead of one lump sum yearly?
Should the heart obey the mind? Or vice versa?
How is effort measured in the service to G-d?
How is it possible to love every Jew, when many are so different from each other?
The incredible B’nos Leaders, Geni Spalter and Shaina Schmukler led the girls throughout the project and spent many hours with the 45 Eighth Graders planning and creating. The Eighth Grade girls presented the exhibits with confidence and a real understanding. They brought in real-life examples and hands-on questions to make the learning last!
“Every moment that the girls spent working on this, even though they missed classes at times, was completely worth it!” Said the girls Chassidus teacher, Mrs. Sterna Sanowicz.
The mothers were blown away…”Unbelievable! The girls were so passionate about the foundations of Chassidus,” wrote a mother.
Mrs. Sara Mayberg shared, “It’s incredible to see the girls working together bringing chassidus to life. Thank you for giving the girls this opportunity and fostering such achdus.”
May the words of R’ Zushe of Anipoli come to full fruition immediately, “With the Tanya the Jewish people will go out to greet the righteous Mashiach.”
