The U.S. Department of State announced on Thursday that it is coordinating charter flights to assist U.S. citizens and their immediate family members.
Many people who have celebrated Sukkos in the Holy Land found their flights canceled as a result of the war that Hamas terrorists launched against Israel.
foreign citizens have encountered difficulties flying home, with flights canceled and no alternatives offered for departure from Israel.
According to a statement by Matthew Miller, State Department Spokesperson, beginning Friday, October 13, the U.S. government will be facilitating flights.
He said individuals will have the flexibility to make their own onward travel arrangements to their preferred destination. These initial transportation options will be supplemented in the upcoming days.
The State Department is actively engaged in collaborations with airline carriers and international partners to ascertain the most effective methods of offering additional choices to U.S. citizens wishing to leave Israel or continue their travels to the United States.
U.S. citizens requiring aid are urged to complete the crisis intake form accessible on travel.state.gov.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely and evaluate the demand from U.S. citizens for assistance in departing Israel on a real-time basis but expect these initial travel options to facilitate the safe departure of thousands of U.S. citizens per week,” Miller said.
“The overall security situation, availability and reliability of commercial transportation, and U.S. citizen demand will all influence the duration of this departure assistance.”
Additional updates and information will be communicated to U.S. citizens who have registered through the online form.
