Friendship Circle of Manchester, England, which engages 75 people with special needs and over 100 teenage volunteers, had a jam packed Chanukah this year.
It began with a ‘pre Chanukah crafts evening’ with over 100 people trying their hand at Menorah making, doughnut decorating, card making and candle decorating.
Each night of Chanukah, the Friendship Circle held parties in private homes. Volunteers helped light menorah, doughnuts were had, gifts were given and a warm, fun atmosphere was felt throughout.
On two different occasions, groups of the participants along with volunteers went to local senior homes with beautiful gift packs made themselves to give out to the elderly.
Friendship Circle also held a first party for the younger participants, where children took part in crafts, games and enjoyed an entertainer as well as supper and doughnuts.
The highlight of their activities was the grand party held on Tuesday where all the participants gathered to enjoy live music, freshly made lakes, doughnuts, a magic show, face painting and lots of dancing.
The menorah was lit by Avi Pash, Moshe Ullman, Adam Patchik along with Ben Blackston.
The Friendship Circle aim to Help people with special needs make friends and integrate into the community, help with spiritual well being promoting teenage volunteering and above all making sure everyone has fun.
