Last Thursday some 70 top echelon business folks in Cape Town got an early start to what would be an extraordinary day.
They attended a breakfast event with Rabbi Dovid Wineberg, the Chabad Rabbi of the landmark Cape Town shul, The Marais Road Synagogue in Sea Point South.
Beginning with a large morning minyan at 7 AM, Rabbi Wineberg assisted men in putting on tefillin before moving across the beautiful African sunlit courtyard of the shul to a magnificent breakfast al a carte.
The event was part of a monthly Tefillin Cafe program that has become a huge success. This time however, Rabbi Wineberg scored a big win by taking advantage of international keynote speaker, Kivi Bernhard being in South Africa for some corporate engagements.
A musician, Judo medalist and gemological consultant, Bernhard addressed the morning event, sharing amazing stories and anecdotes of his journeys as a frum Yid speaking to the leadership teams of Fortune 500 corporations across the globe.
A tremendous sense of Jewish pride and value was felt in the room, and businesspeople in particular were intrigued and infused to hear from Bernhard, organizers said.
Rabbi Dovid and Sarah Wineberg relocated from Johannesburg to assume the leadership of the renowned and prestigious Marais Road Synagogue in Cape Town, South Africa where they are much beloved by their community.
great speaker!
Jewish businessmen taking a moment to bind themselves with a cause bigger than money! Go Rabbi Wineberg
It was one more successful peulah that was accomplished in this world! A yid putting on teffilin? A sense of Jewish pride that can cause someone to make a kiddush Hashem even one time! You can’t measure the success…
Go Uncle Kivi 🙂
