There is never a bad time to feed the hungry. Yet there are times that are most opportune like a family simcha.
Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar used the celebration of his daughter’s Sheva Brachos to inaugurate the new soup kitchen in the Jewish humanitarian center “Sharei Tzedek” of Moscow.
Rabbi Lazar placed a Mezuzah on the front door, accompanied by the lead donor Mr. Nathan Lichtenfeld, Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia chairman Rabbi Alexander Boroda and others.
The new free kosher food service will be feeding thousands of needy families and individuals in Russia’s capital city. The kitchen will also provide hot kosher meals to people that are hospitalized and their families.
Next month, the center will open an additional project: a second-hand subsidized supermarket “Yad L’Yad” for furniture and clothing, allowing people to honorably live their lives in and outside of their homes.
The Sheva Brachos held at Sharei Tzedek was also an evening of recognition to the people running and supporting the impressive 17 charity and humanitarian institutions that Chabad operates in Moscow alone.
Rabbis Lazar and Boroda handed out awards to the leaders of the institutions and presented a Megillah to Mr. Lichtenfeld for his generous support.
Mazel Tov!
