Mendel Brackman, having grown up on Shlichus in Westminster, Colorado, has entered into the fashion industry upon completing semicha and is now launching a premium line of men’s winter coats.
Throughout his time in Yeshiva, whether davening, learning, or selecting his attire, Brackman lived by the idea that one’s outward expression and appearance should reflect one’s inner beliefs.
This mindset helped him find his calling when living in Crown Heights, where he noticed a void in locally sourced men’s clothing that displayed both purpose and style and felt he could bring this motto of clothing that expressed a more purposeful attire.
As he was learning at the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim at 770 Eastern Parkway, Brackman was making connections with master tailors and fashion entrepreneurs. The culmination of these alliances led to the creation of BrackmanCoats.com, a brand of premium quality coats, made from the world’s finest fabrics.
His first foray into fashion was born from a desire to bridge this gap in the market. “I wanted to give every man in Crown Heights the chance to experience the impact of high-quality clothing,” he tells COLlive.com. “This isn’t just a business venture; if I can help people feel more confident and more empowered to live an uncompromised life, that’s personally very fulfilling.”
With this idea as his guide, it was only a matter of time before the right product emerged. “I wanted to zero in on a single item that elevates your entire wardrobe when you get it right,” Brackman said. In search of that uniquely high-impact item, he settled on the winter coat. “No other item makes the difference that a classy wool coat does,” he states.
A couple of years ago, Brackman began forging partnerships with premium European fabric suppliers: Joshua Ellis in Yorkshire, England, as well as Piacenza 1733 and Tollegno 1900 in the Italian countryside.
Today, these partnerships are empowering his brand, Brackman Coats, to create an exquisite coat. His business model utilizes surplus high-end fabric to produce small batches of his coats.
Brackman Coats has arrived in Crown Heights just in time for the winter chill. “We have produced just a few timeless designs,” Brackman says, “But from the classic blue cashmere to the up-tempo gray plaid and a unique dark-camel colored edition, there’s a Brackman Coat for everyone.”

Can you make a coat like the Rebbe’s, I’m sure that would sell really well in Crown Heights… make sure to follow detail
That’s brilliant…
Incredible fabric quality and service fits exactly how I wished it would can’t imagine the coats would be any different.
It’s an opportunity to continue the Rebbe’s directive of right over left.
Look at all the pictures of the Rebbe, and he said to some chassidim to make their clothes right over left.
Chesed over gevura.
What are the price range?
Do u have sizes for BarMitzvah boys?
I wish for nice wool coats for women too
If “one’s outward expression and appearance should reflect one’s inner beliefs”, and since you seem to be a chosid, child of shluchim ( what does being a child of shluchim have to do with it, anyway?)-
then dont be a chosid in pelts!!
Be not ashamed of the beautiful, traditional black coat!
And, to all the readers: when is the last time you did mivtzoim in your home with the eser koichois hanefesh?
Hatzlacha with right over left in every detail.

Why are the coats left over right when the Rebbe wore right over left?
Most brands make their products to it can cater to the majority of the market in order to have the best chance of selling their products. Unless ur selling a product like a kapoto which is worn by only people who wear right over left.
However I have heard that the guy running Brackman Coats can make you a custom coat that is right over left. I know a few people what have gotten that feature. Reach out and see what he says.
