A “Snowbirds Shabbaton” helped to kick off the winter vacation season in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
More than 100 guests joined for the Friday night dinner hosted by shliach Rabbi Moshe Meir Lipszyc and catered by Shaike Catering.
The guest speaker was Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet, rabbi of London’s Mill Hill Synagogue and one of the most prominent Jewish leaders in England, enthralled the audience with an inspirational talk titled “Finding Yourself in the Crowd: Judaism and Individualism.”
Rabbi Lipszyc, having just recovered from major surgery, made a valiant effort to attend the beginning and introduce the evening. He was warmly greeted by the many who were thrilled to see him back.
On Motzoei Shabbos, Chabad of Ft. Lauderdale hosted the girls from the Rohr Bais Chaya Academy, Coral Springs, at which Rabbi Schochet spoke. His remarks dealt with many of the complex questions the girls submitted in advance. He also held a farbrengen and Q&A session with the Coral Springs Mesivta.
That Melava Malkah was amazing. Rabbi Schochet answered so many questions, of all types, very nicely. He responded quickly, and didn’t repeat the ” because Hashem said so and that is why we do” type of speech! Thank you Rabbi Lipszyc and Rabbi Schochet for an amazing evening!
