There was nothing “old hat” or dated about the spectacular gala celebrating 10 years since the founding of Smile on Seniors in Arizona. While the focus was on the older demographic, the evening’s vibe –in keeping with the organization itself– was young and vibrant.
Nearly 300 guests came out in support of a cause that has virtually transformed the Jewish landscape of Phoenix, offering a plethora of programs and services to local active and less active Jewish seniors.
After guests enjoyed cocktails and a sumptuous dinner buffet, Donna Troisi welcomed the assembled, speaking from the heart about the importance of the organization. Arizona’s Head Shliach Rabbi Zalman Levertov offered greetings.
Rabbi Levi Levertov, co-founder and director with his wife Chani, warmly thanked their many partners and shared their vision for the future which includes acquiring a “home” for their organization. A poignant film produced for the event titled Inverting the Paradigm was screened and concluded the evening with heartfelt words by Leesa Weisz.
All in all, it was a memorable evening but there is no time to rest on our laurels. The organization, with the partnership of many friends, is committed to redoubling its efforts, the Levertovs said, adding “There is no retirement in sight.”
They thanked all those who have already given and supported the Benefit Event.
