With the departure of Rabbi Levi Wineberg’s Machon Lehora’a from Pretoria, a great void was created in the Pretoria Jewish community.
After fourteen years, the Machon Lehora’a and its nearly two hundred Bochrim had become a feature of the community which had left an indelible mark on the Pretoria landscape and Jewish community.
Realizing the need for a Torah institution, Rabbi Gidon Fox, the Rabbi of the Pretoria community, together with Mr. Louis Pearlman and Rabbi Mendel Goldman, themselves founders of the famed “Chayenu weekly Torah study publication”, worked to ensure the continuity of Torah learning in Pretoria.
And so was born the Yeshiva Le’Rabbonus Pretoria, the Rabbinical Yeshiva of Pretoria. Committed to maintaining a high standard of learning and an internationally acclaimed Semicha, as well as providing necessary tools for Rabbonus and Shlichus, the Yeshiva maintains a strong Shlichus component with the Bochrim engaging in Hafotza and learning together with the community members at large.
Recognizing the need for the Bochrim to continue to grow in their own Chassidishkeit, emphasis will be placed on Chassidus which will be taught by the renowned Mashpia Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Kesselman.
Smicha will be taught by the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Chaim Finkelstein and the Dean, Rabbi Gidon Fox (who teaches the Hosafos), with Semicha being given to successful students by the world renowned Posek, Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg שליט”א.
Other areas which will be covered include counseling skills provided by professional counselors presenting a Rabbinically overseen and sanctioned course; public speaking course; medical ethics; addiction awareness to name but a few.
Anyone who would like to apply should email [email protected] for more information.
