Chabad in Morocco held a Siyum Harambam on the rooftop of the former home of the Rambam himself in the city of Fez.
Shliach Rabbi Levi Banon traveled there with a group of Jewish teens from Casablance to hold the ceremony.
He continued a tradition led by the late legendary Shliach Rabbi Yehuda Leib Raskin OBM to complete the daily study cycle of the Rambam’s Mishneh Torah at that location.
The Rambam lived and worked in that house which overlooks the University of al-Qarawiyyin, the world’s oldest and continually operating university.
“It is a great merit to be on the roof of the home of the Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon,” said Beer Sheva Chief Rabbi Yehuda Deri who participated in the ceremony.
Rabbi Deri, whose father-in-law would attend the annual event led by Rabbi Raskin, was honored with completing the Rambam and shared words about the state of the world in the times of Moshiach.
