In honor of the year of Hakhel, Chassidic singer Simche Friedman and musician Ami Cohen are renewing the song “Hakhel” which they released in an acoustic version 7 years ago – in the previous year of ‘Hakhel’ – 5776.
The original song received an electronic and up-to-date arrangement, which will suit the ears of the year 2022, Friedman said. It combines musical motifs from the previous arrangement. The musicians Shmuel Yefet and Cohen are jointly responsible for the arrangement.
Along with the renewed song, a music video full of energy, colorful and lively is also released, which was directed and edited by Sruli Broncher and photographed by Yitzchak Kelman.
“The uniqueness of the clip is that it also addresses a frum audience, and not just Lubavitchers,” Friedman told COLlive.com. He said he wanted others who may be less aware of the “Mivtza Hakhel” encouraged by the Rebbe.
At the beginning of the clip, there are even short subtitles that explain to the viewer in a few words what the Mitzva of Hakhel is and why it is still relevant today. And they took the message to the streets of Bnei Brak.
