The Pre-1A boys class of Seymour J. Abrams Cheder Lubavitch Hebrew Day School had a grand siddur party, with parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts in attendance.
Morah Chava Kagan and Morah Hindy Scheiman worked with their students for the past month with great excitement.
The boys performed on stage and received their siddurim. They sang songs and read from their siddurim.
Rabbi Yitzchok Wolf, dean of the Cheder, said: “I was so impressed with the boys’ reading and singing. They outdid themselves. They are definitely ready for first grade!”
A parent, Avi Belson, commented, “My son, Ozzi Mayer, asked me to buy him a night light so that every night he could read from a chumash in his bed to practice reading for his siddur party. He couldn’t wait for this special day!”
When the children were done performing on the stage they went into their classroom and had an interactive day with their parents. Mrs. Lakey Silber, preschool director said: “The children love when their parents enter into their world and play with them. Connecting and building strong relationships is what it’s all about.”
The boys decorated negel vasser bowls and cups, created ties for their fathers and zadies and made beautiful collages with pictures of themselves from the entire year.
Mrs. Faygie Slavaticki, a parent of one of the boys, said: ” I know my son couldn’t wait for the siddur party but I also couldn’t wait to come and have a fun day with him. It’s like going to a museum, only it’s in my son’s classroom.”
