The Israel-based Chabad World Assistance (CWA) organization, which works in conjunction with COSEM (Chabad Office of Security and Emergency Management), has alerted Chabad centers about a serious security threat to Jewish institutions around the world.
“In recent days, there have been serious threats from ISIS to carry out attacks against various targets around the world, with an emphasis on Jewish houses of worship,” the message read. “The threats were due to an incident of burning of the Koran which took place in Sweden in recent days, as well as the volatile situation with the Muslim community in Israel at this time.
“In light of this situation, we recommend that you increase vigilance and security measures in your surroundings, Shuls and Jewish centers.”
They also recommended notifying local police of the threats and requesting additional security presence at Shuls and centers.
Rabbis Shlomo Peles and Moshe Fleishman of the CWA organization said that ISIS recently issued a leaflet calling to their people around the world to carry out attacks.
“It is not known about a specific place where, chalilah, they’re planning to attack so we asked all shluchim to increase their vigilance,” they said.
Just because there is not an alert is no reason to let security lapse.
Stop propping open doors, CCW wherever you go if you are able, etc.
Specifically against Chabad ?. Does this include schools also?
I’m pretty sure that Hatzala is ambulance. And Shmira is police, I think.
Can anyone tell me for what I would call the following? What do they do? Boruch Hashem we have so many emergency agencies! I want to call the right one if needed, may Hashem preserve us!
1) Chaveirim
2) Shomrim
Shimira and Shomrim are the same thing. They are local community watch groups in touch with police but are not police. Chaveirim is a help group for flat tires, lockouts, lost people, Etc.
