Why so much hate on shor habor? Who cares?
It’s mamish a disgrace that all the stores in our community sell non lubavitch shchita but can’t sell shor harbor.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why

When a hechsher engages in conduct like this, it causes people to dislike it (the word “hate” that you used is a strong word). A kosher company needs to have trust for people to eat it, and when they put a hechsher that doesn’t certify a product on that product, necessitating that hechsher to come out and say it’s not under their supervision, naturally it’s going to cause people to think twice about that company

They probably inadvertently forgot to remove it from the packaging from last year or something

I understand an employee placing the labels somewhere and they weren’t included in the destruction of the labels when their certification switched over and a year later during passover them being used by accident not knowing they were the old ones. Things like this do happen. I can offer forgiveness for something like that. If you think about it, they have a new supervision, why use old labels? It can’t be intentional. They have nothing to gain. It’s a mistake that happened and they are trying to correct it. Really what company would use old labels and risk that when… Read more »

Stores can and do sell Shor Habor. The issue here is entirely due to a false Hechsher.

Actually, the CHK does not allow it to be sold

Thank you to the Rabonim

Why is this only brought to the community’s attention only now and not before Pesach, if it was actually a concerning matter why the long wait? Also, why is an argument that took place about a year ago resurfacing all of a sudden again. It seems that it’s more about politics and not actual kashrus.

They forgot to switch the old label

The product is most probably certified by lamed-k and they used the old kosher l’pesach labels and forgot to update the hechsher. It’s not politics, it’s batlanus.

trademark laws are such, that there is no such excuse as forgetting to update
much as there is no excuse for taking a piece of jewelry in a store and forgetting to pay for it

Could be thought it was a mistake, that they used a label from pesach from other years. And just forgot to check if it had the correct hechsher. We learn a lot in yidishkeit to be DAN LKAF SCHUS. And it applies to every situation…

That may be true

But nevertheless when it comes to Kashrus and Hechsherin extra care must be taken, especially in the time period shortly following a major switch.
Companies in every field make label switches all the time after a switch necessitates it, and in Kashrus it’s even more important, so while it’s nice to be Dan L’Kaf Zchus, they have got to be better than this

It’s extremely unhealthy. If you could see what goes into making it (hot dogs, cold cuts as well) you would likely be disgusted. That aside, it is very not good for cardiac health.

There is nothing disgusting about it. It’s the remaining trimmings from the meat cuts from a carcass. The same trimmings that make your sausages make your ground beef. Mixed with ingredients and cooked. A federally inspected facility doesn’t allow things not for human consumption to be added. Saying those things is a scare tactic.
