Unknown assailants targeted the Shaarei Torah Yeshiva in Manchester overnight Sunday, firing shots at the building before escaping from the scene, The Jewish Chronicle website reported on Sunday. No one was wounded in the attack.
Police have signaled that the attacks were intended for the Yeshiva and not a coincidence, the Yeshiva World News reported.
According to the report, two cars were seen driving erratically around the yeshiva around 2am Sunday. “Some of the college’s 170 students came outside the building to discover the source of the disturbance when a flash was seen and a shot heard coming from the window of one of the cars,” The Jewish Chronicle stated.
At least one bullet casing was discovered by students on the road shortly after the cars sped off.
The website reported that large police forces arrived at the scene and shut the road leading to the yeshiva, which is the largest in Manchester.
A teacher at a school adjacent to the yeshiva told Ynet on Sunday that five shots hit the façade of the building, which has Hebrew writing on it. “Since the incident it is impossible to access the street. Its been blocked off from all sides by police,” he said, adding that lately there has been tension surrounding the Jewish community in the area.
A Manchester court is currently in the midst of a trial against a Muslim couple accused of plotting to commit a terror attack against the Jewish community. Mohammed Sajid Khan, 33, pleaded guilty to the charges, while his wife Shasta Khan denied involvement.

#2 lots of exited bochrim meaning bochrim who left the yeshivah or bochrim who are happy – excited?
#11 he could have said “Shaarei Torah” – misnagdishe is not a term they generally use for themselves nowadays.
If G-d forbid you heard that your brother was in an incident, wouldn’t you want to know which brother? Nothing wrong with mentioning which type of Yeshiva it is, as long as it is clear that we are concerned about their welfare.
He could have just mentioned the name of the Yeshiva, and that would have given us the information, without the added description, so whats the connection?
My brother is in the Lubavitch Manchester yeshiva, and I assumed from the article that the incident happened there. While the event is still equally disturbing, I appreciate knowing that my brother was not shot at.
Its quite ironic that the article about the Manchester Yeshiva, follows right after the tragic story of Leiby Kletzky; at that time EVERY SINGLE KIND OF JEW GATHERED TOGETHER TO HELP SEARDH AND TRY AND FOUND THE MISSING CHILD!!! And how we all cried as ONE, upon hearing the news! So had he been Litvish, it would have been different??????? No one stopped at the fact that he wasnt Lubavitch, and that he may have been Misnagdish etc ; As ONE we all were in it together, regardless of who or what we represented! GET A LIFE no 4, before… Read more »
Misnagdish Yeshiva??? And therefore?? Any more or less significant than had it been a Lubavitch Yeshiva c”v ?? And then you wonder as to why all these things are happening! Sad times we’re living in, to read such an obviously ‘racist’ comment’
Whats the point for u to mention misnagdishe yeshiva its all Jews
The police are still not sure if a fire arm was even fired at the scene like was claimed. as no evidence was retrived neither at the scene or from the suspects
