After tremendous community support, Crown Heights Shmira is pleased to announce that they will be resuming the Shabbos Patrol in Crown Heights & starting for the first time in the East Flatbush and Remsen Village communities.
The Marked Shmira Vehicles will be operated by retired NYPD officers who are familiar with the Jewish community and Shabbos customs.
In addition to patrolling the neighborhoods, they will also be available to help with any actions that a Shabbos Goy is permitted to do according to Halacha.
This is a costly project and Shmira is committed to protecting the neighborhood 24/7 with Hashems help. To sponsor a week of patrol, please email [email protected]
In case of emergency, still call Shmira at 718-221-0303. Dont wait for a patrol car to pass by.
I saw them last week too for chof bais shvat. Nice to see them stepping up and taking the lead.
…a big yasher koach
Can you imagine how great it would be if Shmira and Shomrim unite in this hakhel year. Great talent in both organizations. And the Brochos of protection from above. Please let’s get it done. You’ll be looked upon as Great heroes.
Add it to the “To-do” list of Crown Heights improvements
Double protection and security
The public feels safe
It is good!
Double costs…
My children saw the shmira car going around on Shabbos and were confused. Glad you clarified that the cars are driven by exNYPD officers. Great idea, thank you, shmira!
well perhaps an argument could be made that it’s ok for shomrei shabbos to drive a patrol vehicle to mainatain safety = pikuach nefesh.
This is a nice initiative.
Yasher koach
Here is the deal ….Remsen Village & East Flatbush is very gang controlled (vs CH were they stay away) ….I am concerned that the Shmira/shomrim guys driving around feeling all mighty saying the wrong words to the wrong person..last thing we want now is for those people to think its us vs them (who may be the wrong guy to mess with) and before long the well positioned gangs who control turf start putting a target on us jews……BE SMART !
They’re actually NYPD guys. Also, your comment is condescending.
