Chabad Shluchim from across New Jersey met with State Legislators in Trenton for a luncheon hosted and chaired by New jersey Senate President Steven Sweeney.
Organizers said it offered an opportunity for the leaders of the Jewish community and the elected officials to be introduced to each other in a comfortable and social setting.
“These events are so important,” said Senator Sweeney, addressing the Shluchim, “as we the Legislators are constantly making decisions that affect you and your communities. It is vital that we get your input when addressing these important issues.”
A large map identifying the 48 Chabad Centers, led to Legislators personally interacting with the Rabbi that serves in their district so they can work together for the benefit of the community.
“Having a strong relationship with our government allows us to fulfill our duty to our communities by acting as a bridge between the people and our leaders,” said Rabbi Avi Richler, who coordinated the event along with the Senate President’s staff.
Rabbi Moshe Herson, Head Shliach of New Jersey, noted in his invocation the tremendous growth of the Chabad movement in NJ and how it has now come to represent over a half a million Jews throughout the state.
