The town of Mammoth Lakes, CA was buried under a ten-foot snowstorm last Wednesday and Thursday.
Mammoth Lakes is a small remote town in California, with a population of a few thousand. The town is well equipped to deal with large amounts of snow, but this was out of the ordinary. People were stuck at home for days, and the highways were closed for hundreds of miles.
Last year, Rabbi Yisroel and Mushky Gordon moved out to Mammoth to serve the needs of Jews in the region, as well as tens of thousands of tourists who frequent the area.
At the height of the storm, they hosted a zoom event for 15 shvat, probably the first Chabad event ever to continue as planned in the midst of a major snowstorm.
