Chabad Shluchim from around the world who gathered Friday morning at the Rebbe‘s Ohel resting place in the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens had some special requests.
As part of the Kinus Hashluchim convention, participants sign on a “pan kloli” – a letter chassidim write to the Rebbe, beseeching him to pray in Heaven for them.
This year, the communal letter included a mention of the Iranian regime who continue to deny the Holocaust and threaten to destroy the State of Israel.
“May it be venahapoch hu,” they asked for the tables to be turned as with the Purim miracle in the Persian country many years ago.
Kinus Hashluchim Director Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and Britain’s Head Shliach Rabbi Nachman Sudak said that Shluchim have renewed the campaign from 1981 to sign up children in a General Sefer Torah which the Rebbe said is a merit for the safety of Jews in Israel and elsewhere.
Other requests for blessings were for the health of the shluchim and their families, and the financial stability and growth of Chabad centers and institutions.
Another bracha was for Chabad youth which have gone “off the good way and that the situation is getting worse in a way whcih is frightening – that they should return to the ways of what is right and good.”
NY1 reported Friday about the Kinus and said the Rebbe “is credited with reinvigorating Jews after the devastation of the Holocaust.”
