A gathering to mark the Shloshim – 30 days since the passing of Mashpia Rabbi Elimelech Zwiebel OBM was held Tuesday night in Morristown, NJ.
Over 400 friends, family and current and former students gathered at the Berger Auditorium in the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, NJ to hear memories of the renowned and beloved Mashpia for over 50 years who passed away on 19 Cheshvan at the age of 75.
Participants were addressed by prominent guest speakers, including Rabbi Mendy Herson representing Head Shliach Rabbi Moshe Herson, Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Rabbi Nochum Kaplan, Rabbi Elyokim Wolff, Rabbi Zalman Wilschanski, Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi and Rabbis Mendy Zwiebel and Yossi Zwiebel, R’ Meilach’s children.
Following the formal program, Mashpia Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi led an inspiring Chasidic farbrengen attended by the bochurim of the Yeshiva.

That is what was so incredible about Reb Melech! He was a mashpiah that could equally relate to a bochur of 40 years ago (pre-internet, cell phones, etc.) just as well as he could relate to a bochur of today.
It was only 40 years ago when a bochur of 17 years old would hear a maamor and be able to repeat it! WOW! Today a bochur can spend a week learning the maamor and still have a hard time repeating the points in it. It was only 40 years ago when a bochur of 17 years old would know the entire Minchas Chinuch or write a long pilpul on a discreet inyan of Ha’anoka – just for a “Shmuel Munkas-type” prank. It was a shock when I went on to COL (I don’t often do it) to see the shloshim. I didn’t even realize he had passed away. May the family have a lot of strength. You are all very special.
